Berlin based David Pher is no rookie to the electronic major leagues. That said, in recent years he has been pushing the envelope of the modern minimal sound with his much acclaimed releases on labels like Gruuv, Rebellion, Solid Grooves Records and of course right here on Deeperfect.
First up on this stand out EP is the track Lights. Here we are treated to a top shelf minimal workout with an intricate, pumping and almost melodic percussion groove. The addition of a hypnotising and melancholic female vocal steps the track up on an emotional level which perfectly contrasts the funky bounce of the beat itself.
Our boy Ninho, who recently dropped his first EP on Deeperfect, steps up on remix duty for Lights and delivers a real tech house gem. This rendition has a more assertive and jacking beat and groove which uses well placed FX to create an energetic rush. The vocal is used more sparingly than in the original to pinpoint specific moments in the composition.
Rounding out the release is Moleque, David Pher’s second original. Moleque is an organic tribal house jam with wild ethnic percussion and vocal shouts and trippy melodic harmonies. This track provides a perfect contrast to the other two cuts on the EP and finishes the package off in style.
